David Stracey

I am an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with a Master of Social Work majoring in forensic behaviour. My private practice covers my interest areas of mental health, behaviour change and trauma recovery. 

Clinical Practice 

I have worked as a counsellor in private practice, government and non-government organisations since 2007. My career includes supporting children, young people, adults, and families in Victoria, the Northern Territory, New South Wales and Queensland. 

I have experience providing short- and long-term evidence-based counselling to people impacted by a variety of mental health concerns including Anxiety, Depression, Schizophrenia and Borderline Personality Disorder, self-harm and suicide ideation and other general concerns.

I have a particular expertise in providing evidence-based assessment, treatment and support related to harmful sexual behaviours. This includes those who have committed a sexual offence.  

I have extensive experience supporting people living with the impacts of child sexual abuse and who are recovering from trauma.  

Training

Throughout my career I have provided clinical training in the area of child sexual abuse and harmful sexual behaviour. I have developed and delivered a range of training opportunities including workshops, webinars and inhouse training programs.

Consulting Services 

I provide a range of consulting services to local and national organisations that support children, young people and families. These services range from providing clinical case reviews to developing practice frameworks and resources to guide organisational responses and therapy programs.

Professional Involvement 

I am a member of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and have previously led an AASW Queensland branch Child and Family practice group.  

I am also the Treasurer of the Australian and New Zealand Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abuse (ANZATSA).
